Bright

Here are some illustrations that I did for the Netflix movie Bright.  There are process sketches along with the finished illustrations.

The illustrations were supposed to be for a children's book that explained some background information about the historic relationship between orcs, humans, and their fight against evil.  The finished book never made it into the film, but the illustrations were unlike anything I had done before, and were a lot of fun to do.  Check it out.

Below is a rough cover sketch.

Below is the final cover (and back), depicting the different races uniting together to fight against the Dark Lord.

Below is the interior spread, rough and final, introducing the Dark Lord and his minions.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

I had a little fun on this project last summer.  Above is a quick idea for a Jumanji video game starter screen, taking it back to the NES days.  More work to come, thanks!

Concept Art: War for the Planet of the Apes

Here's a few pre-production sketches exploring ape architecture.  Check out more ape stuff here.

Thanks for looking!

Here's a key frame Illustration done back in 2015.  I'll post more at www.joeystudz.com at a later date.  Thanks!

Logan

Long time, no post.  Here are some sketches I did for the end sequence of Logan.  I wasn't on the project for very long, but it was fun working with Francois Audouy on these end bits.  Thanks Francois!  I'll post more on my website at a later date, please stay tuned.

The Order: 1886, Pre Viz Art

Here are the first couple of pre viz paintings that I did for The Order back in 2010.

This pre-production painting is a combination of the top two images.  The details we taken a little further in order to be used in the initial game pitch video that was shown to Sony.

Viking

Here is a quick sketch that I did for a group project a while back.  It's just for kicks, and it's actually a touch up of an old unfinished sketch which you can partially see as the under drawing in the top image.

Whitechapel Lycan Concepts

Quick tone sketches of Lycan in human form, before transformation.

Final concept

Human character portrait, and with effects.  The head is based on a 3D head scan that I manipulated in ZBrush, then painted over in Photoshop.

Lycan portrait after transformation.  Lycan design and sculpt by Tobias Kwan, Adam Skutt and Jordu Schell.

Thanks for looking!

Sir Ramon

Finally, some sketchy stuff to put on this so-called sketch blog in the New Year.  Here is a sketch that I did for a fan that was one of the winners of Playstation's Road To Greatness Tour.  It was fun drawing him up as an honorary Knight of The Order.

You can check out his full story here: Video

Thanks for looking, Happy New Year!  Hope to post more soon.

Concept Art - The Order: 1886

Here's another visual development sketch done early on in the project.

Thanks.
